Fourteen months of development (and around a decade of research) are finally coming to fruition. The Rome for Foodies app for iPhone, iPad, and Android will be released into the wild in the next few weeks. I’m trying to get everything just right so users will have the best possible product for navigating Rome’s gastronomic landscape. I built the app, above all, to promote the city’s food artisans and small businesses, so expect to find listings for Rome’s extraordinary but lesser-known venues as well as the well-deserving famous ones. There will be around 150 thoroughly vetted listings including restaurants, wine bars, craft beer pubs, bakeries, cheese shops, butchers, and natural gelato shops. You will be able to search venues by proximity, keyword, neighborhood and budget, share listings with social networks, follow suggested itineraries, and use content offline. As with any project, delays are inevitable, but hopefully you will be able to download the app by early January. To get the news delivered to your inbox, sign up for the Parla Food newsletter:
