9 Favole di Pane, Rome

Back in the day I lived way up on the Via Prenestina before there were decent bakeries, restaurants, and alimentari around. I would do my food shopping in Piazza delle Provincie instead. Granted it wasn’t super close, but it was just a 30-min tram-to-bus-to-short walk away. There, I’d stock up on for bread and pizza al taglio. 9 Favole di Pane on Via Catania was one of my regular hangouts. Their baked goods were always fresh, often hot, and they made a mean pizza by the slice. After a trip there on Wednesday afternoon for the first time in years, I can report that they still do. This slice with mozzarella and cherry tomatoes was perfect-crispy crust, flavorful toppings, a drizzle of olive oil. It is just as worthy of an hour long round trip visit as it was then.
