Enoteche in the Summer

The summers in Rome are HOT, not exactly ideal weather for a steaming plate of spaghetti alla carbonara. In the warmer months, I recommend visiting the city’s enoteche, wine bars, which serve serving light, often cold, meals and snacks. Economical and delicious, these places can substitute a proper restaurant for lunch (Al Vino Al Vino, L’Angolo Divino, La Bottega del Vino) or dinner (all of the below). Only Fafiuche’ has outdoor seating.

Al Vino Al Vino Via dei Serpenti 19. Daily 11am-3pm & 7pm-midnight.

Il Goccetto Via dei Banchi Vecchi 14. Mon-Sat 7pm-midnight.

Fafiuche’ Via Madonna dei Monti 28. Tues-Sun 6pm-2am.

L’Angolo Divino Via dei Balestrari 12. Tues-Sun 10am-2.30pm & 5pm-2am.

La Bottega del Vino Via Santa Maria del Pianto 9a/11. Tues-Fri 10am-10pm & Sat 10am-8pm.

NB: these enoteche close roughly from Aug 15-Sept 1

Katie, when you come back, you have try Bacocco, a small and upscale enoteca on the outer side of Trastevere – the best crudo di pesce and very good wine list.

Sounds fantastic. Crudo di pesce is a personal favorite of mine. Thanks, Hande!
