Parla Food's Free Rome Dining App Dropping This Week

In just a matter of days, I will be publishing a free app, the first in a series of dining guides I will put out this spring. The first will focus on Rome and will be in both Italian and English. This will be followed by Istanbul and London. The apps will be simple with few bells and whistles, but plenty of info on where to eat and drink in Rome. Think of them as prototypes for more complex apps to be released in the summer. Stay tuned!

Update: It’s here!!

    Good for you! I look forward to being in Rome at some point and using your app to eat my way around the city.

    Looking forward to the app. We would not go to Rome without consulting with Katie. I hope you will do a wine app one day, as well.

    @all thanks!

    @Pete I like the way you think…

    @Engred you don’t need an iphone! It’s not a native app so think of it as a set of websites that looks like an app when viewed on a smartphone but is also available on your home computer! check back tomorrow–ill be publishing the link late tonight!

    I presume the restaurants you have on your iphone app are the ones you recommend the most in rome? is that an obvious question??

    @Dillon it was great to spend time with you and the kids! It was very special to be a part of their experience and such a trip to be introducing them to Rome at the same age I was when I first visited

    @Timi hey!! did you get to use the app at all? hope you had a great time!

    @Shayma thanks!!

    @engred you’re quite welcome;)

    @sprat that is absolutely right. i think the question is quite a valid one and perhaps I should have done a better job describing exactly what the motivation behind the choices where. this week ill be putting up a dedicated page for the PFDG with a full explanation, but essentially I felt that the best of Rome’s restaurants, wine bars, and food shops should be promoted. Eating well in Rome is becoming an increasingly difficult task but the 60 or so venues on the app are quality establishments, mainly small, family run businesses and i feel very strongly that they should be supported! thanks for your comment sprat!!
