Ancient City

(2 customer reviews)

This walking tour takes a layer-by-layer look at the complex archaeological zones of the Coliseum, Palatine Hill, and Roman Forum. Within these sites we will be able to trace the origins of Rome from the Romulus and Remus myth through Republican Rome up to the Roman Empire. Caesar, Nero, and Trajan are just some of the names we’ll encounter as we use these three sites to discuss everything from propaganda and politics to daily life and entertainment. The tour provides context for other ancient ruins in the city and leaves visitors with a deeper understanding of ancient Roman culture.

  1. Caroline

Katie’s in-depth tour of Rome’s history gave us a new perspective of the amazing ruins and archeology found throughout the Eternal City. Highly recommend!

  2. Michaele Harried

We hired Katie for the day in March 2017 to tour this Ancient City with our family (14 yr old son and 12 yr old daughter). She made the city come ALIVE through her story telling and in-depth knowledge of its’ past- with intricate details from why small square blocks of stone are missing in the Coloseum to the red granite in the Forum to how a more ‘recently’ uncovered area of town reveals how the city was laid out- and by sharing the current culture of Rome through walking in the market, teaching us how to drink from a Roman water fountain and exploring a newer brewery. Book her at the beginning of your Rome exploration. This was a highlight of our 10 day Italy trip and she is worth every penny! All four us can’t wait to go back. Our friend toured with her a few months ago and raved about his experience too.
