Le Tre Stanze, Florence

tre_stanze

This past weekend, I stayed at Le Tre Stanze in Florence, a small B&B on the top floor of a palazzo 100 feet from the Duomo. The location was ideal, just 10 minutes walk from the Accademia, Santa Croce, the Uffizi, and the Bargello. Le Tre Stanze means “three rooms”, each of which is elegantly decorated with antiques without being overbearing. Though the rooms and common areas are quite stately, the place felt more like a home than a museum. Our room was massive, just a bit smaller than my apartment in Rome, and had a double bed, a single bed, couch and lots of shelves and bureaus stacked with books, ceramics, and sculptures. A large window looked down onto a garden and let in lots of light, when it wasn’t raining, of course. Le Tre Stanze was the perfect retreat for a weekend escape to Florence.

This looks like a nice alternative for the next time I’m in Florence.

We are staying at LeTreStanze for our fourth time next week. It is incredible !!
Patrick is gracious, charming, and handsome too. We love it…but don’t really want everyone to find out about it.

    Katie,

I am only just discovering your recommendations and it is making my trip planning a lot easier. Do you have any recommendations for unique hotels/ b and b in Milan- lots of the hotels I am looking at seem quite corporate and as we are only there for two nights or so I am opting not to use air b and b. Your recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

hmmm. no clue. I always use air bnb and have had some fantastic short stays in apartments that are more like vacation rentals than actual homes. if i come up with anything ill let you know!
