Octopus Stew – Ahtapot Yahni

This week I had lunch with my friend Ayşe at Delicatessen in Istanbul’s Pera district. I had recently interviewed chef/owner Elif Yarın about Istanbul food culture for National Geographic’s Food Journeys of a Lifetime and she gave me the low down on her new venture, stating that the octopus stew she put on the menu was to die for. She wasn’t kidding. The octopus was so tender and had taken on the flavor of the spiced broth, capers, and olives it was cooked in.
