UPDATE: the book’s name has been changed to Tasting Rome!

Blog posts have been kinda sparse these past few months. Sorry about that. Editing a book proposal is hard work. Managing the stress of selling it is even more demanding. Somehow it all paid off and I am thrilled to announce that my next book, Really Roman Tasting Romewill be published by Clarkson Potter in Spring 2016. Our agent Alison Fargis of Stonesong was passionate about this project from the beginning and her contagious enthusiasm culminated in a successful auction. Five months after submitting our first draft of the proposal to our agent, Kristina and I have a deal!

The idea of writing a book on Roman cuisine came about in December after Kristina had finished shooting images for “Rome Dish by Dish”, my feature article for Australian Gourmet Traveller. As we feasted on polpette di bollito at Cesare al Casaletto, one of our favorite trattorias, we realized that we had succeeded in putting together in words and images a completely unique article that truly reflected how and what Romans eat today. Our editors had given life to a vision of the city that sloughed off the antiquated stereotypes that plague Rome’s culinary reputation. We were eager to share more of the Rome we know–the real Rome that exists beyond the clichés.

Kristina and I look forward to sharing Really Roman Tasting Rome with you in 20-ish months. Its pages will document our adopted city through traditional, forgotten, inspired and contemporary recipes and Kristina’s photography will illustrate the uniquely Roman ingredients, colors and textures we both adore.
