Last weekend I saw Il Ritorno, a film made by Chef Massimo Bottura, Lara Gilmore (the husband and wife team behind Osteria Francescana) and Togo Studio. It premiered at A la Mejor de la Gastronomia in Madrid in 2010 and since then, it has made the rounds on the food conference circuit. Its subject matter, however, doesn’t just appeal to the elite who can afford to dine at Osteria Francescana. It is a very straight-forward, moving, and beautiful piece about cuisine, the past, memory, and the future. You can watch the film (in Italian with English subtitles) above.
