Taverna dei Fori Imperiali, Rome

Written by Katie Parla on August 29, 2008

A restaurant that is 100 feet from the Roman Forum could theoretically serve the world’s worst food and still stay in business. Fortunately, Taverna doesn’t agree with this approach and serves fabulous pasta, meat and fish.  The inventive chef blends Roman recipes and ingredients with Sicilian influences.  Its shown up in some guidebooks and in magazines of late, so booking is essential, especially to snag a spot outside in the summer. There is a full printed menu but wait to hear the specials rattled off by Aldo or Claudia, the chefs enthusiastic kids.
