The Big Tasty Holiday Market

Written by Katie Parla on December 22, 2010

Through tomorrow, December 23, the people who brought you the Hester Street Fair will be hosting the Big Social Holiday Market at 201 Mulberry Street in Manhattan. There are 40 vendors selling their wares, including Luke’s Lobster, Pies’n’Thighs, Robicelli’s Cupcakes, and the Macaron Parlour (Candied Bacon with Maple Cream Cheese Macaron! WHAT?!).

I have to admit that I only went to check out the food. I absolutely hate shopping. But after a lobster roll, I took a spin around the other stands and found some really nice gifts. I picked up a gift for Mamma Parla at a shop that will remain nameless until she opens her presents on Christmas morning. I bought an adorable onesie with a cheeseburger on it for my friend’s newborn (it’s never too early to start infants out on red meat) at Brooklyn Craft, and an old French pasta ad and a print of a chef serving steak to a dog at Barleycorn Antique Prints.

Get into the holiday spirit, too. The Big Social Holiday Market is open today and tomorrow from 11 a.m to 8 p.m. Check out the full vendor list here.
