It didn’t take long for me to become utterly obsessed with Ved Stranden 10, a wine bar in Copenhagen that goes by the name of its address. I went there on Tuesday evening to meet local food blogger Trine Lai of Very Good Food and have been back every night since. The specialty is natural wines, meticulously selected from an array of organic and biodynamic producers primarily from France, Germany and Austria. Bottles and glasses, available in a wide range of prices, can be paired with croque-monsieur, olives, cheese, gravlax, or cured pork. The quality of food and drink is impeccably high and its proximity to the Danish Parliament does draw a well-heeled crowd, but the atmosphere is hardly stuffy. Just show an interest in wine and the staff will take care of the rest. On warm days you can drink outside at tables and chairs along the canal, while on the other 360 days a year, retreat to the warm interior where wine and food are served beneath glass ceilings resembling mother of pearl.
