Chelsea Market Aperitivo

Last night dinner plans in NYC went a bit haywire, so to stave off the hunger, Mamma Parla and I swung by Chelsea Market to grab a few snacks to prepare at a friend’s place while we regrouped. Our choices were a tribute to southern Italy: a bottle of Villa Raiano Greco di Tufo from the Wine Vault, burrata from the very new Lucy’s Whey, and a durum wheat loaf from Amy’s Bread. I was especially impressed by the burrata, which was as creamy and flavorful as any I’ve had in Andria. I’d like to try a few more selections first, but I have a hunch Lucy can hang with Saxelby and Murray.

A good burrata is not easy to find in the states – such a perishable cheese. Glad to hear of your recommendation.

Burrata is truly a gift from the gods (whichever one you believe in…I’ll give them all the credit). I had a few amazing burrata (or burrate?) while in Italy this past December…what a treat!
It’s been a while since I bought one here in the States though. A few years back we had one that was comnpletely sour…it turned me off completely. I will have to check out Lucy’s Whey soon though, Katie. You’ve given me hope!
